Lab Technician – Cellular Pharmacology & High-Content Imaging

We are looking for a hands-on, reliable Lab Technician to join the Molecular & Cellular Pharmacology (MCP) team within Discovery Technologies & Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP), part of the Therapeutics Discovery organization at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Beerse. You will work in an industry-leading team combining cell biology, high-content imaging (HCI) and laboratory automation to develop drug-discovery-ready assays and profile compounds in complex, physiologically relevant cellular models across multiple therapeutic areas.

In this role you will support assay execution and compound profiling at the bench, with a strong focus on primary-cell culture, drug treatments and high-content imaging, in a well-organized and safety-conscious laboratory environment. You will be part of a collaborative team of scientists and technicians and contribute to the continuous, high-quality generation of data that drives our discovery programs forward.

  • Perform cell culture of primary cells and other cellular models (adherent and suspension), maintaining cultures under aseptic conditions and to consistent quality standards.

  • Prepare and execute compound and drug treatments across assay plates (including 96-and 384-well formats), following experimental designs and predefined protocols.

  • Run high-content imaging (HCI) assays end-to-end: cell seeding, staining, fixation/permeabilization, image acquisition (e.g. Yokogawa CV8000) and support of downstream data handling.

  • Operate and support laboratory automation and liquid-handling platforms to enable reproducible, higher-throughput workflows.

  • Accurately document all work in the electronic lab notebook (ELN) and related systems in line with departmental standards and DDI (Data & Documentation Integrity) requirements.

  • Perform routine quality control and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and help keep the lab well-organized, stocked and audit-ready.

  • Troubleshoot experiments in consultation with scientists, and report outcomes clearly and on time.

  • Work safely at all times, respecting all EHS and safety instructions, PPE requirements and standard operating procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with scientists and fellow technicians, sharing knowledge and supporting team priorities and workload peaks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life-sciences discipline (e.g. biomedical / biotechnology / biology) with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience; or

  • Master’s degree in a life-sciences discipline with 1+ year of relevant laboratory experience.

  Must-have technical skills:

  • Hands-on experience with cell culture of primary cells and aseptic technique.

  • Experience preparing and performing drug/compound treatments in cellular assays.

  • Practical experience with high-content imaging (sample preparation, acquisition and basic analysis).

  • Experience with, or affinity for, laboratory automation and liquid-handling systems.
